Career and Technical Education Nondiscrimination

Anthony Independent School District Division of Career and Technical Education Public Notification of Nondiscrimination in Career and Technical Education* Programs

1) The Anthony Independent School District offers career and technology education programs in business, human services including culinary arts and cosmetology, commercial arts, health, industrial programs including air condition- ing, refrigeration and heating technology, electronics, computer and automotive professions. Admission to these programs is based on interest and aptitude, age appropriateness, and class space availability.

2) It is the policy of Anthony Independent School District not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex or handicap in its vocational programs, services, or activities as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of

1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and Section

504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.

3) It is the policy of Anthony Independent School District not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, handicap or age in its employment practices as required by title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, as amended; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.

Middle School

The Investigating Careers (Middle School) Course:

creates a foundation for success in high school, future studies, and careers such as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics; Business and Industry; Public Service; Arts and Humanities; and Multidisciplinary Studies. Students research labor market information, learn job-seeking skills and create documents required for employment.


Texas Touch System Data Entry

The course is based on Texas state standards for Career and Technical Education (CTE) to help students prepare for entry into a wide range of careers and/or into postsecondary education. It is designed to enable students at the high school level to develop electronic communication skills that they can use in their careers.


Robotics

In Robotics, students learn the nature of technology and science through the application of Lego Mindstorms EV3 Robots. Students demonstrate engineering and problem solving by completing missions.  In addition, students develop an understanding of how systems evolve as the tasks become more challenging and students utilize coding skills, sensors and communication skills.


Makerspace

Makerspace is a creative and fun way for students to demonstrate an understanding for the technological world through hands-on projects. Activities in Makerspace evolve from STEM topics including photography, coding, circuits, and building.  Students collaborate with each other and share their ideas through digital platforms. 


High School

Business and Industry:

The Business Office Technology Certification endorsed by Express Employment Professionals provides students with a solid understanding of current and emerging technologies in today’s workplace.  


In addition, the certification addresses major topics such as computers, operating systems and networking, telecommunications, business documents, web and business ethics and the Microsoft® Office Suite. 


Information Technology: 

Many IT professionals begin their careers in IT support-related positions. The main purpose of this certification is to verify necessary skills to work as an IT support professional. In an IT support job, you’ll be asked to install, repair, configure, secure, and manage computer hardware, operating systems, and software in home or corporate environments. These are the most basic and foundational skills required of all IT professionals. Additionally, communication, listening and analysis skills are essentials for interacting with customers.

The A+ Certification coursework measures an examinee's ability to install, repair, configure, secure, and manage the following systems and devices:

Pharmacy Technology: 

This course is geared towards preparing students to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Examination. This program consists of calculating dosages, recalling medication information, pharmacy laws, ability to read prescriptions, and hands on training. We use the Kaduceus program along with my seven years of experience as a Certified Pharmacy Technician to be able to give the best training possible to our students.


CTE Programs

Healthcare Therapeutic

The Healthcare Therapeutic program of study introduces students to occupations and educational opportunities related to diagnosing and

treating acute, episodic, or chronic illness independently or as part of a healthcare team. This program of study also includes an introduction to

the opportunities associated with providing treatment and counsel to patients as well as rehabilitative programs that help build or restore daily

living skills to persons with disabilities or developmental delays.

Networking Systems

The Networking Systems program of study explores the occupations and educational opportunities associated with

designing and implementing computer and information networks, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area

networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks. This program of study may also include

exploration into analyzing science, engineering, and other data processing problems to implement and improve

computer systems.

Business Management

The Business Management program of study teaches CTE learners how to plan, direct, and coordinate the administrative services and operations of an organization. Through this program of study, students will learn the skills necessary to formulatepolicies, manage daily operations, and allocate the use of materials and human resources. This program of study will also introduce students to mathematical modeling tools and organizational evaluation methods.
